Description
The siéton is an old term from Provençal pottery: it refers to this small, shallow, hand-thrown bowl that was set on the table for sauces, condiments or small bites.
Each piece is thrown and then decorated with a nail, a technique where the motif is drawn straight into the raw clay before firing. The line stays visible, slightly recessed, carrying the mark of the hand that drew it. No two pieces are quite the same.
French terracotta is a material both porous and dense, warm to the touch, which softens and takes on a patina with use. It ages well without losing its shape, and gains character over time.
Each piece is unique.
