Description

A heritage from Norman farms, where butter was kept fresh without an icebox.

In the countryside of yesteryear, our ancestors mastered this age-old technique: immersing butter in water to protect it from air and rancidity.
The fat, which doesn't mix with the water, remains intact under this natural barrier. This butter dish perpetuates this peasant wisdom, crafted in white glazed stoneware using traditional methods.

How to use the water butter dish

The cap holds your softened butter, which you gently tamp down. The base of the butter dish forms the fresh water reservoir. Close the assembly over the sink - the overflowing water confirms that your butter is perfectly immersed. This total immersion preserves freshness while maintaining a spreadable texture at room temperature.

Renew the water every three days or so, more frequently if you use butter regularly. The water can be lightly salted to enhance the taste. Be sure to keep the water level sufficient to ensure complete immersion of the butter.
