Description

The Kalimba: a traditional instrument from sub-Saharan Africa whose ancestor, the mbira, has been used for centuries by local ethnic groups, but which has enjoyed growing interest in the West since the 20th century thanks to its light notes.

Both melodic and percussive, the Kalimba, also known as the thumb piano, is a multitasking instrument that can be played at the point of the fingernail or index finger.

The sound is soft and melodious, not to say soothing.

Easy and fun, it can be a great introduction to music for young and old alike.

Popularized in the 20th century in the West by musicians such as Fleet Foxes, Bjork and above all Earth, Wind & Fire, the thumb piano has now become part of Western culture.

This instrument combines modernity and tradition, simplicity and musical depth.
