Traditional maté bowl

The bowl, made from calabash and aluminum, is used to prepare and enjoy mate, a stimulating infusion traditionally consumed in Latin America.
It is drunk through a filtering straw called a bombilla.

The natural calabash is obtained from a bottle gourd, a distant cousin of squash, pumpkin and pumpkin, which once dried and hollowed out becomes naturally waterproof and very light. Each bowl is unique, and colors and sizes may vary.
