Mauléon Espadrilles

Genuine espadrilles from Mauléon

Since the 19th century, the small Basque town of Mauléon has been the undisputed cradle of the traditional espadrille. In the town's workshops, know-how has been passed down from generation to generation, preserving precise gestures and a unique manufacturing method, notably the famous rim stitching - a speciality of Mauléon.

Basque know-how still alive and well

Each pair of espadrilles is fashioned according to an ancestral process: the cotton canvas is hand-cut from a template, then mounted on a natural jute rope sole. This is then reinforced with a thin layer of vulcanized rubber, guaranteeing both flexibility and strength. The final assembly is carried out by hand, using traditional techniques.

Why choose a Mauléon espadrille?

By choosing a genuine Mauléon espadrille, you're opting for a quality product, handcrafted in France, with a focus on durability and respect for tradition. More than just a shoe, it's a piece of local history that we wear every day.
